Kiwi Culture

Pounamu is a New Zealand greenstone that is typically found down on the west coast of the South Island in rivers that hold very cold waters in New Zealand. Due to the strength of this type of stone its needed a strong diamond tip drill piece to work and carv with this tonga because of how much strength it holds beneath it. Pounamu can be used as weapons decorations jewelry and gifts that you can only by for people and not yourselves. So prized as this native maori treasure it has become an aeirloom passed down from generation to generation. You can find pounamu in souvenir shops in necklaces and bracelets maori weapons and much much more.
